Jim and I were married in the garden of The Old Whaling Station in Monterey on September 3, 2005. Though we live in Santa Cruz, we wanted to be married in the same garden my parents were in 1964. After we were engaged, I started to look around at Monterey-based rental companies. I was really amazed at the poor customer service, the depressing and unimaginative showrooms, and inferior quality of the equipment and linens. One day I stumbled upon Alexis Party Rental, and never interviewed another company again. I could see that I had found the perfect people to help us.
Since the wedding location was an hour's drive away, it was incredibly convenient to have our equipment rental vendor just down the street. Their website also provided helpful details during our late night prowling on the internet. The staff at Alexis Party Rental was wonderfully supportive and patient during the nine months of detailed planning. Because they had never seen the venue, the staff met me in the garden in advance so they could understand the layout of the house and garden. The planning was complex, as we were trying to fit 130 guests comfortably into a garden meant for only 100. There was the rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, a quick scene change for a sit-down dinner, and then dancing. I visited the store frequently, asked millions of questions, snooped around the wonderful warehouse and played with various table setups and linens. They were professional, with really great advice about party setup and planning. They were also very personal, sharing stories of their own wedding and party planning experiences. The Staff said I was the only bride who showed up with a portable file box at each appointment. And every time I walked into the store, I was welcomed with warmth, laughter and real enthusiasm.
On the day of delivery, the Alexis staff showed up on time, unloaded all the equipment without a fuss, and was really helpful setting things up. The equipment was clean and beautiful, everything worked well, and the garden was magically transformed into the lovely scene we had imagined.
We would absolutely return to Alexis Party Rental in the future, and would strongly encourage other brides and grooms to work with Margie and her wonderful staff. You won't be disappointed.
